Associate Professor, School of Labor and Employment Relations, University of Illinois and Co-Director, Regina V. Polk Women’s Labor Leadership Programs
Dr. Emily E. LB. Twarog is the Lilia and Ronald Peters faculty scholar and associate professor in the School of Labor and Employment Relations at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is also the co-director of the Regina V. Polk Women’s Labor Leadership Programs, a program dedicated to building leadership skills among women union members. Dr. Twarog is the author of Politics of the Pantry: Food, Housewives, and Consumer Protest in 20th Century America (Oxford University Press) and numerous chapters and articles on the history of women workers and women’s leadership development. Her work has been funded by grants from the American Council for Learned Societies, the Schlesinger Library at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, Harvard University, the Hagley Library, and the University of Illinois’ Campus Research Board. She is currently writing a book, Hands Off: A History of Fighting Back against Sexual Harassment in the American Workplace. Dr. Twarog holds a PhD in American History from the University of Illinois at Chicago and an MS in Labor Studies from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
