Starr De Los Santos is the associate director of coalitions at Women Employed. In this pivotal role, she is responsible for developing and advancing comprehensive strategies to build, activate, and engage new and existing statewide coalitions in pursuit of specific policy and public education goals. Starr oversees the Illinois Time to Care, Illinois Care Can't Wait, and Equal Pay Day Chicago coalitions. Additionally, she was recently appointed to Mayor Brandon Johnson’s LGBTQ+ advisory council, where she contributes to the equity and inclusion committee and serves on the Auxiliary Board for the Center on Halsted. 

 

A proud Puerto Rican and Dominican, Starr hails from Washington Heights, NY, and has spent over a decade passionately advocating for equal rights for Latinx, women, and LGBTQ+ groups, as well as promoting higher education access and affordability in Illinois. She is proud to have earned her BA in Justice Studies and her MA in American Government and Public Affairs from Northeastern Illinois University, a Hispanic-serving institution in Chicago. Starr's journey is a testament to her unwavering dedication to creating meaningful change in the communities she represents, inspiring others to follow in her footsteps.
